Papillon supports Foodsavers

12/12/2021

The day before Christmas, fruit company Van Lier donated 500 kilograms of Papillon fruit to Foodsavers.

A Christmas present delivered to social affairs official Tom Meeuws. The fruit was delivered by the fruitastic Papillon tram to the Luchtbal Park & Ride, and then taken to the nearby Foodsavers distribution centre.

Foodsavers is an umbrella organisation that collects quality food surpluses from producers, auctions, supermarkets and other businesses and distributes them to people in poverty via social distribution points and food banks. For the collection and distribution of the food, they recruit people who are struggling to find work. That way, they create social employment and help them to play their full part in society. Thanks to Foodsavers, some 457 tonnes of food were saved last year.

Van Lier is proud to support this wonderful initiative with a tram full of fresh Papillon fruit.
