Company visit Sint-Bavo from Ghent

24/05/2022

They came, listened and tasted that it was good.

On Tuesday, May 24, we had some special people over at Thiry in Ghent.

The boys and girls of the specialisation economy/modern languages of the Sint-Bavoschool (also from Ghent) visited our warehouses.

Nicolas (purchasing) immediately took them on a tour of our fresh storage areas. Not only could they see our large stock of fresh fruit, but they could also take a look at the ripening rooms for our bananas. All this was followed by a clear explanation of the long way our fruit travels before it ends up in your mouth.

Next, Joris (marketing) treated them to a visual explanation of the marketing we use at Papillon to sell all that fruit and, to top it all off, Joeri (cfo) initiated the young gang into the wonderful world of company management, exchange rates and accounting; because behind every purchase and sale there are a lot of numbers.

A fun fact: did you know that every day, more than 46,000 Papillon oranges are sold in Belgium? That’s about 17 million a year!

After all that information heads were full and stomachs were empty so it was time to snack on some fresh cherries, strawberries and…. Belgian fries (because why not).

Loaded with a nice Dopper bottle and a portion of healthy fruit, this happy group went back to school. Hopefully we have inspired them for a future in our industry, we really enjoyed your enthusiasm!
